Lifting Factorization in Maple

Abstract

This paper gives an insight into the polyphase matrix factorization by using Euclidean algorithm and its implementation in maple. The maple implementation allows the program to be called from Matlab. Polynomial reduction using Groebner bases is also incorporated into the program. This reduces the number of wavelet filter coefficients appearing in a given expression through use of the relations they satisfy, thereby permitting exact symbolic factorizations for any polyphase matrix.
